The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m.

Pledge of Allegiance led by Chairman Pellissier.

Persons who made a contribution of more than $250 to any member of the Commission during the preceding 12 months were asked to come forward and state for the record the Commissioner to whom such contribution was made and the item of their involvement. (None)

The following matter was called up for consideration:

Continuation of the March 26, 2003 hearing to consider whether the City of Montebello is exempt, under Government Code Section 56133 (e), from Commission review and approval of its proposed out-of-agency service contract for provision of fire protection services to the City of Commerce.

Ron Blaul, Consultant, Emergency Services Consulting Inc., made a presentation on the Fire Emergency Services Consistency Study.

4b - Presentation to Commissioner Bernson in recognition of 21-years of service as a member on the Local Agency Formation Commission.

Commissioner Yaroslavsky made a motion to approve staff’s recommendations to approve the findings contained in the Fire and Emergency Services Consistency Study prepared by ESCi, dated May 2003, and deny the City of Montebello’s request for exemption under Government Code Section 56133(e). Said motion was duly carried by the following vote:

On motion of Commissioner Proo, unanimously carried, the minutes for the meeting held on May 14, 2003 were approved.

No one came forward to address the commission during the public comment period.

The next meetings will be June 11, 2003 and June 25, 2003.

There was no new business to be placed on any future agenda.

On motion of Commissioner Gladbach, unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 11:10 a.m.
